A popular Lowveld restaurant on the N4 to Machadodorp, Mpumalanga, has been gutted by fire.
Milly's Restaurant caught fire at around mid-morning. Fanned by a strong wind, the flames spread to a nearby food store. Despite the efforts of the fire-fighters to douse the fire,
both the restaurant and food store were torched within minutes.
Milly's Restaurant manager Unice Badenhorst said: "Fire started on the roof of the Millys Restaurant and then basically just started all over very quickly. We tried to stop it but the wind was blowing too much and the fire just jumped to other parts of the roof. Within 20 minutes, everything had burned down."
Furniture and other valuables were burnt to ashes
